On August 15, 1 pm at the west Huntington library the League will sponsor a viewing of the film, “A Place at the Table”. The film wakes us up to problem of hunger in the US, and explains some of our other problems. The public is invited to attend the event.
“A Place at the Table” is a documentary film that shows how hunger poses serious economic, social, and cultural implications for the United States, and what solutions are possible. The film shows that many in our country are not receiving the nutrition needed to sustain them for good health and productive lives. As of 2012, about 50 million Americans were food insecure. This was approximately 1 in 6 of the overall population, with the proportion of children facing food insecurity even higher at about 1 in 4.
