SB 173 seeks to ban “abortifacients” and prohibit healthcare professionals from prescribing them in WV. It also prohibits the sending or delivery of the drugs in WV. Since 2022, WV has lived under a near-total abortion ban. SB 173 is another attempt to further restrict abortion in WV.

All schools should be accountable for ensuring our kids receive an adequate education. Private schools receive millions of dollars in public funding via the Hope Scholarship. If SB 216 passes they will not be required to administer any formal testing, track or report attendance, set curriculum objectives, or even meet a minimum hours of instruction.

LWVWV believes in the individual liberties in the Constitution of the United States.  The “Establishment Clause” in Amendment 1 is to protect persons of all religions, including those who have none. Any government preferring any religion over another violates separation of church and state.
