MAKE SOME NOISE: OPPOSE SB 593; SUPPORT SB 630

OPPOSE SB 593, prohibiting Ranked Choice Voting
SUPPORT SB 630, to protect election officials & poll workers

SB 593, which would prohibit ranked choice voting (RCV) in any West Virginia election is on the Senate Government Organization Committee agenda, at 10 a.m., Thursday, Feb 15.
RCV is used successfully in a number of other states and localities. A prohibition runs counter to the position on Ranked Choice Voting adopted by LWVWV in 2021:
LWVWV supports legislation that assures that the candidate preferred by the majority of voters will be the winner of the election. The League supports Ranked Choice Voting (RCV), initially to elect West Virginia Supreme Court Justices, with consideration to expand RCV for future elections.
LWVWV SUPPORTS SB 630, a bill to protect election officials, including poll workers. SB 630 is on the Senate Judiciary Committee agenda at 3 p.m., Thursday, Feb 15.
This bill defines protections for election officials and election workers, including poll workers, while performing their duties and clarifies the conditions and circumstances of such protections.
