The League of Women Voters, Morgantown-Monongalia County, presented Democracy in Action awards at their June 15, 2019, annual meeting. Shelby Leary, former WV House of Delegates member, was honored for her public service along with Don Spencer, former Morgantown City Council member and member of the Human Rights Commission. Guest speaker for the program was JoNell Strough, chair of the Mon Valley Green Space Coalition, one of the leaders in the effort to protect the forest of White Park.
