SB 615 would mandate that WV state and local police assist in federal immigration enforcement. Some individuals rounded up in the current anti-immigrant surge who appealed their detentions have been found to be detained illegally. SB 615 will make things worse, incentivizing unconstitutional arrests and detentions.

Proposed rules related to a 2025 bill encouraging the development of data centers are now before the Legislature for final approval. As written, these rules give the public almost no notice, and very little information about what the companies are proposing. The rules must be amended to require more transparency from big data centers.

Currently, absentee ballots are required to be counted if postmarked on Election Day and received by canvass. If HB 4600 becomes law, any ballot received after 8pm on Election Day will not be counted. This is a dramatic change that will prevent votes from being counted.
